Why IJT Doesn't Compete on Price — and What That Means for You as a Buyer

If you've ever compared fabric prices across suppliers, you've probably noticed:
there's always someone cheaper than IJT.
We know that. And we've chosen not to follow.
Not because we can't. But because we believe that suppliers who compete on price ultimately can't deliver what buyers actually need from a long-term supplier: consistency.
This article explains why — and what it means for you as a buyer.
A Price War Always Gets Paid From Somewhere

Fabric prices don't drop on their own. Behind every price cut, something else gets cut — and it's almost always one of these:
Raw material quality. Cheaper yarn, a composition that differs from what's labelled, or a finishing step that gets skipped. The result: fabric that looks identical on spec but feels different in your hands and behaves differently on the production floor.
Lot control. Maintaining consistency across lots requires systems and standards — and those systems cost money. Suppliers cutting prices are often the first to cut lot control. You're the one who absorbs that at the cutting table.
Managed stock. Maintaining ready stock requires capital locked in a warehouse. Suppliers operating at the lowest price point often don't have enough stock buffer — and you feel the impact when an urgent order can't be filled.
After-sales response. When problems occur — and they always do at some point — a supplier operating on thin margins has no room to offer a good solution. All they can offer is an excuse.
A price war might benefit the buyer on the first transaction. But the cost shows up on the second, third, and fourth — in the form of production problems that didn't need to happen.
What We Protect by Not Competing on Price

Healthy margin isn't our end goal — it's the tool that protects the things that matter more:
Lot consistency. We maintain strict lot control systems because we have the capacity to do so. Every delivery is tracked, every lot documented. This isn't something that can be sustained when margin has been cut to the bone.
Consistent stock availability. Ready stock in combed 20s, 24s, 30s, Drifit Milano, Drifit Speedy — we maintain availability because we know buyers who come to us often need certainty, not "let me check on that." The capital we lock into stock is our commitment to you.
Raw material selection. We don't source fabric from just any mill. There are standards we apply before fabric enters our warehouse — and those standards are what make the fabric that reaches your hands reliable.
A response you can count on. If there's a problem with fabric you received from us, we have the capacity to handle it seriously — not deflect with excuses or go quiet. That's only possible when our business runs on a healthy margin.
This Isn't About Us Being More Expensive

The perception of "expensive" and "cheap" is almost always calculated from the wrong number: price per kg.
What should actually be calculated is the total production cost per finished piece ready to ship to your customer — including waste, rejects, re-production, and the time spent handling problems.
When you calculate it that way, the price-per-kg difference between IJT and a cheaper supplier is often smaller than it appears. In many cases, it reverses entirely.
We're not the cheapest per kg. But we aim to be the most cost-efficient when measured against your total production cost.
What We Ask From You as a Buyer

A good supplier–buyer relationship isn't one-directional.
We maintain quality and consistency on our side. What we ask from buyers:
Clear communication before ordering. Accurate specifications, confirmed lot requirements, realistic timelines. The clearer the information we receive, the better we can prepare what you need.
QC on your side. We maintain our standards — but we also believe that buyers who run QC before cutting are buyers who protect their own investment. We've written the guide — not to shed responsibility, but because a good system starts from both sides.
Honest feedback. If something isn't right, tell us. Not after production is finished, not after you've already ordered from somewhere else — but when the problem can still be solved together.
Who IJT Is Not the Right Fit For

We're not the right fit for everyone — and it's better to be upfront about that.
IJT is probably not the right choice if:
You need the lowest possible price and quality isn't the primary concern
You're producing disposable or very short-term promotional products
You're not ready for a long-term supplier relationship and prefer buying from whoever is cheapest at any given moment
There's nothing wrong with those needs. We just don't operate in that space.
Who IJT Is Built For

IJT is built for buyers who:
Have production standards that need to be consistently maintained
Calculate efficiency from total cost, not purchase price per kg
Need a supplier they can count on when stock is urgent
Want to build a long-term relationship that works for both sides
If that description fits you — we're here.
The Bottom Line

We don't compete on price — not because we don't care about our buyers' cost efficiency. Quite the opposite.
We believe the best way to respect our buyers is to not compromise on the things that let them produce with confidence: consistent fabric, reliable stock, and a supplier whose word can be trusted.
That's what we protect. And that's what we offer.
